ssh-keygen -t ed25519

You can accept the default options by pressing enter.

On first connection, you’ll be prompted to choose a username. After that, you can create posts, follow users, and explore the federated timeline.

On federated services like Mastodon people now can follow you, when searching for:

@YourUser@stegodon.zip

Stegodon.zip is run by DotZip Ltd, a non-profit company that runs fediverse services for anyone to use.

We don’t yet have a Terms of Service or Code of Conduct, or a privacy policy or really anything like that yet, so err.. use at your own risk i guess.

Correct - SSH key (yours, on your machine) → hashed → stored as Publickey → used for login authentication - ActivityPub keypair (generated by stegodon) → stored as WebPublicKey/WebPrivateKey → used for signing federated messages
