We’ve been pointing out for years that the supposedly “free speech absolutist” Elon Musk is one of the most aggressive abusers of state power to create chilling effects against his critics. So it should come as little surprise to anyone paying attention, that he’s at it again: threatening to sue Rep. Ro Khanna for Khanna’s comments regarding Musk’s time running (though pretending not to run) DOGE, where Elon took great joy in killing USAID, despite having no congressional mandate to do so.

When TechPowerUp spoke to AMD’s Chief Software Officer and Senior Director of Software earlier in June, the executives made bold claims about the quality of its new FSR 4.1 implementation coming to older RDNA 3 GPUs, stating that, despite underlying technical differences, the actual output would have the same quality as it does on RDNA 4 GPUs. There was, however, little discussion about a potential performance hit from the upscaling tech, although it seems as though that discussion may not have been necessary at all, according to testing that has shown up on r/radeon on Reddit.

Following the recent release of FSR 4 support on RDNA 3 GPUs, Valve engineer, Pierre-Loup Griffais, has announced in a post on Bluesky that the same support has officially been added to Linux via Steam’s Proton compatibility layer. Support for FSR 4 on RDNA 3 comes by way of the latest version of Proton Experimental, so it’s by no means a stable implementation just yet, but the engineer specifically calls out SteamOS and the Steam Machine as the target system for the new upscaler support, suggesting that Valve will invest development resources into getting the support into a more complete state ahead of the full roll-out of the Steam Machine.

3.28.0j Patch Notes Return of the Ancestors Added support for the Return of the Ancestors league event. Added Silver Coins and all Trial of the Ancestors exclusive Tattoos to the Currency Exchange. Silver Coins and Forbidden Tattoos will be deleted at the end of the Return of the Ancestors event. Winning Trial of the Ancestor Tournaments can offer a new type of Tattoo that applies to Ascendancy Notables. These Tattoos will grant Notables from all the base game Ascendancies (not the Phrecian Ascendancies). If you have the following Phrecian Ascendancy Notables allocated, then these Ascendancy Tattoo notables will be disabled due to functionally stacking in a bad way: Blind Prophet’s Sightless and Slayer’s Overwhelm Daughter of Oshabi’s Innate Blessing and Guardian’s Harmony of Purpose Paladin’s Light of Divinity and Inquisitor’s Augury of Penitence Paladin’s Elemental Valiance and Guardian’s Radiant Crusade Paladin’s Anointed Champion and Inquisitor’s Pious Path Ascendancy Tattoos cannot apply to multiple choice notables, Bloodline Ascendancy notables or notables that grant Passive Points (such as Aristocrat’s Inherited Fortune). You can no longer enter Trials of the Ancestors at Ranking 130 or higher if you have not killed Kitava in Act 5. Match reward chests in the Trial of the Ancestors will also reward some Gold. For the Return of the Ancestors event Lost Karui Shipments and Shipping to Karui Ports will reward Runegrafts instead of Tattoos. Bug fixes Kingsmarch overview screen will now estimate the duration of map device jobs based on all remaining maps being completed at 100%, instead of just the next map.
