A couple of years ago, as part of one of my children learning all the provisional capitals of the Netherlands, we decided to visit all the provisional capitals in a day, and when feasible we'd get out spend at least a couple of minutes at the station, usually to change trains. We managed to visit every capital's station within 24. They, of course, aced their quiz at school They also collected ~€100 in sponsorship money, which they donated to WWF, because why not.When they were learning the European capitals, they thought of something similar, visit all the European capitals in as little time as possible by train. I've been thinking about how to do this, and in which capital to start to keep the time to a minimum, and possibly fit it into a 2 week school holiday. From experience I know I could probably visit much of Western Europe in about 2 or 3 days: Lisbon-Madrid, Madrid-Barcelona, Barcelona-Paris, Paris-London, London-Brussels-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Berlin and Berlin-Warsaw. Adding Zürich and Vienna in between Amsterdam and Berlin would probably add a day, or soI expect that the Nordics could be done in about a day or twoI could also try starting in Athens and travelling through Eastern Europe first, which from what I understand here will be the most difficult leg, and might be best to try firstI think it's possible to do it in two weeks I'm looking at the moment, and musing over the possibilities. At the moment it's only a paper exercise , to intention to do it, ever if I believed in could convince one of my children to come with me. If anyone has done this already, with or without children, input is certainly welcome :boost_ok:
