@m0bi Jeden prosty trick, żeby się taka maszyna nie zaswapowała na śmierć, sprzedawcy RAMu mnie nienawidzą!, to nie dotykać dysku. Na każdym mam zram rozmiaru prawie całej pamięci (2.5GB na laptopie, 11GB na „dużym”), żadnego disk-backed, żadnego dyskowego swapu o dalszym priorytecie. Jak braknie, to trudno, wolę OOM niż dysk, który właśnie próbuje przerzucać gigabajty z/do ramu; jeśli mam coś krytycznego, to mogę OOM score dostosować, ale jeszcze nie miałem potrzeby (poza telefonem, ale to inna historia). Swappiness podkręcone do 190. A, no i drugi – nie wchodzić na facebooka, nie wiem, co on robi, ale procesor chce odlecieć.

@m0bi mój daily to stacja robocza Dell Vostro 3910MT z 16 GB ramu, dyskiem ssd 256 i terabajtowym hdd. Maszyna do pisania, Internetu, ale czasami pogram w starsze tytuły (tylko takie mnie kręcą). Pracuje pod odpowiednio spreparowanym Windowsem 11 Pro (polecam Chris Titus Tool, po "odchudzeniu" uruchamia się w pięć-sześć sekund), testowałem na nim Debiana, Ubuntu, opensuse, wszystko działa od kopa. Miałem kiedyś wymieniać... ale dopóki coś nie spali płyty głównej albo zwyczajnie nie wyzionie ducha to powinien posłużyć do 2030-2032 (ewentualnie dorzucę mu ramu i wymienię procesor).A ja myślę że prędzej z AI bubble zejdzie powietrze i ceny części wrócą do normy. Pytanie tylko czy je kupimy, skoro maluje się kryzys gospodarczy na horyzoncie.

@m0bi@mastodon.com.pl Jako mój drugi laptop mam kupiony poleasingowy za 400 zł HP EliteBook Folio 9480m. Mam na nim Aurorę (odmiana Fedory Kinoite) i też nie czuję pod żadnym względem, że mam stary sprzęt. Śmiga cudownie.
